Nobody can predict the future. But all the signals point in the same direction: water-related challenges scarcity, flooding and pollution are set to intensify. Recent studies including Future Water Challenges (CPB, 2023) and Valuing the Hydrological Cycle as a Global Common Good (GCEoW, 2024) underline the urgency of acting now.
Recent events in Valencia remind us that even in highly developed countries, water systems can fail with devastating consequences. Floods struck despite advanced infrastructure and planning. The uncomfortable question is no longer if things go wrong, but how prepared are we when they do. How can we better anticipate whether too much, too little or too polluted water is coming our way? And more importantly: can monitoring, digital twins and artificial intelligence help us move from crisis response to timely prevention?
Partners for Water invites you to an interactive Meet-up on Early Warning Systems, exploring how data-driven technologies can strengthen water security and decision-making. The aim of this session is simple, but ambitious: to examine whether and how these tools can genuinely help us stay ahead of water-related risks.
Your perspective is key: we encourage you to not just listen, but be part of the change! The discussion will be moderated by Partners for Water’s Programme Coordinator, Liliane Geerling.
